• Competition Pool is a 50 Meter, 10 lane pool, only 8 lanes used for competition. This pool is housed in the Arena of the CenturyLink Center.
• Warm-up Pool has 8, 50 meter lanes and 5, 25 meter lanes. This pool is housed in both Halls A & B of the Convention Center.
• Assembly of the warm-pool will start on May 22nd and the competition pool on May 24th. They need to be completed by June 5, allowing 12 days. 38 workers, working 16-18 hour shifts.
• In less than 20 days over 15,000 man-hours will be invested to construct the pools
and mechanical systems alone (does not include foundations, decks, etc.)
• 4 days to take down the pools and pack them.
• The Trials competition pool has been sold to Charles River Aquatics in Boston.
• At the end of the 2008 Olympic Trials Myrtha Pools has had 38 world records set in our pools.
• Over 50,000 parts were needed to construct the two pools and the mechanical systems.
• There are over 34,000 nuts, 34,000 bolts, and 34,000 washers in each pool.
• The pool components traveled over 5,000 miles from Castiglione, Italy to Omaha.
• The pools were transported by six trucks to the CenturyLink Center.
• There is a mile of pipe being used in both pools.
• There are three gas heaters, each with a capacity of two million BTUs, being used to heat the water in the competition pool to 80° and the water in the warm-up pool to 81°.
• There are two million gallons of water sitting on the floor of the CenturyLink Center, approximately one million in each pool.
• These two million gallons of water are equivalent to 13,000,000 glasses of water.
• The pool pumps move over 8,500 gallons of water per minute.
• The weight of the water is approximately 7,000,000 pounds per pool.
